The Chaplain Services Department at RMC is staffed by a host of volunteers under the direction of Chaplain Jim Wilson. The ministry department at RMC provides an outreach in the hospital as well as the community at large.
The mission of the Chaplain Services Department at Regional Medical Center is to share the love of God with all those we encounter on our campus. This is accomplished in a this in a variety of ways through personal contact.
The Pastoral Visitation Team ministers to patients, families of patients, and RMC Staff members each day.
The On-Call Chaplains are available after normal work hours and on weekends to meet patient and visitor’s spiritual needs in the hospital.
Worship opportunities are provided each Sunday morning and on Christmas Day in the hospital auditorium .

We have two worship services on Sunday, one for staff, patients and visitors at 8:30 – 8:45 AM. One worship service is held each Sunday in the psychiatric unit at 9:00 – 9:30 AM.
The Chaplain Service Department provides prayerful and spiritual encouragement to the patients, families, and staff in RMC. Counseling and visitation services by the Chaplain to staff, volunteers, and patients delivers God’s strength, hope, and peace to those possibly affected by illness, loss of loved ones, depression or special needs.
Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Teams meet needs that arise from catastrophic events in this and other communities. CISM Team Members require specialized training in order to serve on this team. This training is provided by RMC. Volunteers respond to this need along with the hospital staff as well as various groups in our community including public safety organizations, schools and churches.
Healthy Congregations is training to promote better relationships in religious congregations. This training is based on a systems perspective that treats social units such as congregations, families, companies, and corporations, as emotional systems. Congregations rely on leaders-pastors, priest, deacons, choir members, youth ministers, church staff, church councils, vestries, sessions, boards and committees. Healthy congregations depend on having healthy individuals in leadership positions. Membership in the Healthy Congregations training group is composed of religious leaders, both lay and ordained, in our community.
Religion and Ethics dialogue group for clergy and physicians meets monthly in the private dining room. Discussions usually center around a video clip from Religion & Ethics Newsweekly, a production of Thirteen/WNET New York. That series is funded by Lily Endowment Inc, Mutual of America, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and individual supporters. Broad topics have included religious pluralism in the U.S., health care and religion, science and religion, and religion and politics.
Parish Nurses assist local area churches in developing a wellness program for their congregations. This is a specialized ministry by nurses through church congregations. This ministry fosters the stewardship of body, mind and spirit while focusing on ways to enhance good health.
