List of Chaplain Services:

The Chaplain Services Department at RMC is staffed by a host of volunteers under the direction of Chaplain Jim Wilson. The ministry provides an outreach in the hospital as well as the community at large through:

  • ministry to patients, family members, and staff by Daytime Chaplain Volunteers, On-Call Chaplains and Chaplain Wilson
  • ministry to individuals through Support Groups, and professional counseling by Chaplain Wilson
  • a Critical Incident Stress Management Team to meet the needs of this and other communities during catastrophic events and high-stress periods.

There is a need for persons with a variety of skills to assist in this Ministry. If you are interested in becoming a Chaplain Services Volunteer, please contact Chaplain Wilson at (256) 235-5146.

The following support groups are offered at no cost.

RMC Support Groups

Meets at Oxford Public Library every Thursday at 12:00 noon. 110 East 6th Street, Oxford AL 36203.

For families dealing with Alzheimer’s disease. Meets on first Wednesday at 1 PM in Physician’s Building 406. The group facilitator is Lynn Lacher. If you have questions, please call 256-235-5146.

Every Wednesday, 10-2, Women’s Pavilion. Please call 256-235-5146 for additional information.

For anyone who has experienced a loss through the death of a loved one. Meets the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month at 1 :00 PM in the Cancer Resource Center in the Physician’s Office Building, 4th floor, Suite 406. For further information please call 256-235-5146. Ken Nix Group Leader.

For patients with bi-polar, depression, and other disorders, and those interested in providing support. Meets 1st and 3dr Wednesdays at 3:00 PM in the Boardroom in the Physician’s Office Building on the 4th floor. Facilitator is Donna Shockley. For further information please call 256-235-5146.

Mental Health Support Group – Meets the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month at 6 PM in The Bridge, Room 1-2, located behind Anniston First United Methodist Church, 1400 Noble Street. For parents whose newborn children have died. Meets for special gatherings once each year. Call 256-235-5132 Ex.2 for more information.

Meets quarterly at RMC Private Dining Room, providing support and education for all ostomy patients, family, and friends. Call 256-235-5146 for date and location.

For patients in treatment or recovery and their significant others. Meets the 4th Tuesday of each month at 5:00 PM in the new Private Dining Room RMC, 1st Floor. (No December Meeting)

  • Men of Steel (for men supporting women) meets at the same time. 256-231-8827
