The Cuddler Program

The Cuddler Program

The Cuddler Program uses specifically trained volunteers to provide comfort measures to infants at risk for Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) on our OB unit. NAS is a term used to identify babies born at risk for addiction to drugs and other substances used by the mother during pregnancy. These babies may have symptoms such as irritability, tremors, may feed poorly, and may need to have constant physical attention postpartum.

Is there training provided for the cuddler program?

Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) and RMC training/orientation are required. These trainings are held on weekdays during dayshift hours. Once you have completed these trainings you will spend one day on the unit with a Cuddler representative to be trained on unit specifics.
