Balance Disorders Center

Falls are a leading cause of injury in younger and older adults, and the leading cause of death in those over the age of 85. Dizziness, falls, fall-related injuries and the fear of falling can often diminish the length and quality of human life.

NeuroCom Smart Equitest

Our NeuroCom Equitest System allow the therapist to individually evaluate the systems in the body that control balance, gait and movements.

Our InVision System allows us to evaluate the eyes and how eye movements contribute to balance.

This, along with standardized Physical Therapy evaluation techniques assist us to localize the source of the problem and design an individualized balance and Vestibular Rehabilitation Program (VRP) for each patient.

RMC is one of only two hospitals in Alabama to use an advanced technology to treat and diagnose balance disorders. We utilize the same state-of-the-art breakthrough technology as NASA specifically created to diagnose and treat the cause of dizziness and loss of balance in astronauts upon their return from shuttle missions.
