RMC offers a multidisciplinary approach to rehabilitative therapies and treatment in a nationally recognized compassionate and therapeutic environment.
At RMC, we provide a comprehensive approach to rehabilitative care and physical wellness in both the hospital and outpatient settings. Our Rehabilitation Services team works with each patient to restore, strength, mobility, balance and function after injury or illness has occurred.
Each patient’s injury and recovery is unique and requires individualized assessment and treatment. We recognize that each patient requires specialized, focused, comprehensive care, whether being treated for a one-time problem or for a long-term physical condition.
RMC’s highly-trained rehabilitation specialists provide patients with an individualized rehabilitation treatment plan that includes a variety of advanced techniques designed to restore normal strength, motion and flexibility and reduce pain as quickly and safely as possible. Our emphasis is on ensuring that patients play a very proactive role in their recovery process.
Inpatient rehabilitation services are available for patients during hospitalization. This is generally available if a physician feels that a patient requires a less-intensive level of care but still not quite ready to leave the hospital.
These inpatient rehabilitation services include:
- Skilled nursing care
- Physical therapy
- Occupational therapy
- Speech therapy
- Respiratory therapy
- Education about living with a condition or recovery
- Time to understand a new treatment that will be needed outside the hospital
All patients are evaluated and treated by Alabama Registered/Licensed Clinical Therapy team that include:
- Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants
- Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants
- Speech Language Pathologists and Speech Language Pathology Assistants
- Registered Nurse
- Exercise Physiologists/Exercise Specialists
- Licensed Massage Therapists

The rehabilitation program is supervised by Marilyn Burson, M.D. who provides physical rehabilitative consultations, as well as testing to include electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction velocity testing (NCV).
